Interno Positano local bus guide

Updated Oct 24, 2026ExperiencesAbout the Brikette team

Overview

Interno Positano is the local bus for moving around Positano. The central route links Piazza dei Mulini with stops including Sponda, Chiesa Nuova, Fornillo and Terminal Prisco.

The Interno service is separate from SITA's regional buses. Near Hostel Brikette, use the Interno stop at Tabacchi Cafiero on Viale Pasitea; SITA's Chiesa Nuova/Bar Internazionale stop on Via Marconi is a different stop.

Route and main stops

The local route serves Piazza dei Mulini, Sponda, Chiesa Nuova, Fornillo and Terminal Prisco, with additional local stops depending on the current timetable.

For the beach and shopping centre, ride to Piazza dei Mulini. For Hostel Brikette, confirm the Tabacchi Cafiero stop on Viale Pasitea with the driver.

For orientation, see the municipality's 2023 visitor brochure and route map. Its timetable is historical: use the map to locate the town's main stops, then confirm the current route and departures with the operator.

From Hostel Brikette downhill

Leave via Via Guglielmo Marconi and follow the hostel's downhill connector to the Tabacchi Cafiero Interno stop on Viale Pasitea. Confirm the stop with the driver before boarding; do not use SITA's separate Chiesa Nuova/Bar Internazionale stop as a substitute.

Buy your ticket before boarding where possible, then take the bus downhill to Piazza dei Mulini. Walk beneath the arch and follow the promenade to Spiaggia Grande.

Returning uphill

From Spiaggia Grande, walk up to Piazza dei Mulini and wait for the Interno Positano bus heading uphill.

Ask the driver to confirm the Tabacchi Cafiero stop. Do not use the SITA Chiesa Nuova/Bar Internazionale stop as a substitute: it is a separate regional-bus stop on Via Marconi.

After getting off, follow the uphill connecting walk to Via Guglielmo Marconi and the hostel entrance. Use the step-by-step beach-to-hostel route; allow for the entrance stairs as well as the road walk.

Tickets and current times

Start with the municipality's transport page, which links Mobility Amalfi Coast for the internal service. Check current notices and ask an authorised local ticket seller which product covers your route before paying.

Buy before boarding where possible and follow the validation instructions for that ticket. Confirm the applicable fare and departure for your date; do not assume a SITA regional ticket or a Positano–Praiano ticket covers the central Interno route.

Practical tips

  • Check the current timetable before setting out because local service patterns vary by season.
  • Keep Interno and SITA tickets separate: they are different services with different ticket arrangements.
  • If the bus is full or service has ended, use the established walking route and allow extra time for Positano's stairs.
