From Brikette, the walk to the sea includes stairs and road crossings. Choose a sailing that leaves enough time for bags, the descent and your operator's boarding procedure; a later ferry does not extend free hostel luggage storage.

Choose the sailing and Salerno terminal together
Compare your date and direction on Travelmar's official timetable, Positano Jet's outward route and NLG's bidirectional Manfredi route. Check intermediate calls, total journey time, the Salerno terminal and the actual operating period.
As a dated example, NLG's route page checked on 26 October 2026 lists an adult single at €19.50 and a 1 April–3 November 2026 operating period. This describes that published product, not every operator or a guaranteed future departure. Confirm the total for your selected sailing and any baggage charges.
Brikette to Spiaggia Grande: the stair route
Use the numbered photo directions from Brikette to the ferry dock alongside these landmarks. Allow time for the whole descent, bags, road crossings and finding your operator; the short main-road leg is not the whole walk.
- Go down the hostel entrance stairs to Via Guglielmo Marconi. Turn left and follow the main road toward Chiesa Nuova for approximately 120 m.
- At the first junction, turn right by the tabacchi landmark. Continue downhill to the bend and take the descending stairs shown in the photo guide.
- Follow the stair flights and road crossings in the numbered route. Cross only when safe; there are traffic sections and no step-free promise.
- At the bottom, turn right toward the shops and pass under the arch toward the waterfront. Find the ferry pier beside Spiaggia Grande.
- With heavy bags or mobility needs, arrange suitable help before leaving. If using porters, agree availability, collection and delivery points, timing, full price and payment before handing over bags. A porter booking does not reserve your ferry seat.
Buy the correct ticket and check the boarding instructions
Book with the operating company for Positano → Salerno on your chosen date and sailing. Verify whether your confirmation is a boarding ticket or needs exchange or a ticket-office visit. Follow that booking's reporting deadline rather than a fixed coast-wide buffer.
Keep your ticket available offline and confirm the operator and assigned boarding point with staff. A through ticket with an intermediate call is not automatically a sightseeing stopover ticket: Travelmar's FAQ requires separate legs if you want to get off and explore Amalfi.
Luggage before departure and on the ferry
For post-checkout storage at Brikette, enrol through the guest app. We must have received your agreement to the terms and conditions, and storage is subject to availability. It is free until 15:00. If you have not returned by 15:00, bags automatically go to the porters, who charge for storage. Read the full luggage-storage arrangements and agree collection in time for your sailing.
Check the chosen operator's current baggage allowance and any extra charge before buying. Travelmar's conditions of transport distinguish carrying baggage from loading, unloading and custody; paying a baggage fare does not book a porter. Ask the operator in advance about boarding assistance for your specific vessel.
Salerno arrival: Concordia and Manfredi are separate
- Molo Masuccio / Piazza della Concordia: use this terminal's map when planning a walk to Salerno railway station.
- Molo Manfredi / Stazione Marittima: this is a different waterfront terminal near Piazza della Libertà. Plan its own onward walk, taxi or other confirmed transfer.
- Check your actual arrival terminal before buying a close train connection. Allow for disembarkation, baggage and the transfer to the station; a ferry and a separately booked train are not a guaranteed connection.
- For an airport journey, distinguish Salerno–Costa d'Amalfi (QSR) from Naples (NAP), then confirm the current ground-transfer route with its operator. Do not assume a ferry ticket includes an airport transfer.
Weather, missed connections and land alternatives
Check the sailing's dated notices before descending to the beach. If cancelled, retain the ticket and cancellation notice and follow the seller's current rebooking or refund procedure; do not assume a universal refund deadline or compensation for a separate train.
Use the ferry-cancellation guide and operator timetable guide to compare a workable land alternative. A detour via Sorrento that still uses a ferry remains exposed to sea disruption. For a fixed onward train or flight, choose enough contingency for the actual replacement journey.
