Positano to Ravello: how to go

Positano → Ravello via Amalfi: buses all year; ferry + bus in season.

Add buffer for the Amalfi transfer and plan to be back before sunset if you rely on the last ferries.

Updated Dec 22, 2025transport

Via Amalfi

Take the SITA bus or seasonal ferry to Amalfi; buy tickets before boarding and allow time for queues.

Change at Amalfi (stand 5) for the Ravello bus, then walk about 10 minutes to Villas Rufolo and Cimbrone.

Gardens & villas

Villa Rufolo hosts concerts and terraces over the bay; Villa Cimbrone is famous for the Terrace of Infinity.

Reserve tickets online in peak months to skip entry lines.

Timing & returns

Leave Positano early to dodge the hottest hours and busiest transfers.

Head back before sunset if you need daylight on the stairs or a guaranteed ferry.

Tips

  • Carry water and snacks—options around the Amalfi bus station are limited and pricey.
  • Wear comfortable shoes with grip for Ravello’s slopes and the walk between villas.

FAQs

Is the route family-friendly?

Yes with breaks and flexible pacing; strollers work only in Amalfi, not on Ravello’s stairs.

Can I combine Capri on the same day?

Possible but rushed—plan separate days so you actually enjoy both destinations.
