Positano to Ravello by Ferry and Bus via Amalfi | Hostel Brikette

Plan the ferry and the uphill bus as separate legs

Check the sailing's actual operating dates and the 5110 direction, service-day notes and Ravello branch before paying. Travelmar's current October PDF includes Positano–Amalfi; do not treat 'summer ferry' as a rule for all operators or assume a future date is available.

Allow time between the boat's scheduled arrival and the bus departure for disembarking, bags, finding the signed stop and any ticket purchase. These are separate services; a delay does not entitle you to a protected bus connection.

Buy ferry and SITA tickets separately

Use the ferry operator's current timetable and sales channel for Positano → Amalfi. Check your ticket's boarding deadline and any ticket-office formalities; Travelmar's conditions and its FAQ give different arrival guidance, so confirm the requirement for your booking.

The ferry ticket does not cover SITA 5110. Buy the correct bus ticket through an authorised retailer or supported digital channel, following SITA's purchase and validation instructions. Do not rely on buying from the driver.

A suitable COSTIERASITA pass may be worth comparing with your separate bus tickets, including the return. It is a personal SITA product, valid for 24 hours from first validation under its conditions; it is not a ferry pass or a seat reservation.

Get from Brikette to the Positano ferry pier

Start at Via Guglielmo Marconi 358 and follow the numbered walking guide to the ferry dock for the entrance stairs, downhill route and waterfront approach. Plan backwards from your boarding requirement, allowing for bags and queues rather than using a universal walking time.

At Spiaggia Grande's beach-level ferry area, follow your operating company's signs and staff to the assigned boarding point. Confirm Amalfi before queuing, complete any required ticket collection and follow crew instructions at the gangway.

If carrying bags down is unsuitable, agree porter help separately or check a licensed transfer and its actual drop-off. Neither option automatically eliminates all walking or the hostel's entrance stairs.

Take the confirmed sailing to Amalfi

Check the selected sailing's stops, scheduled arrival and current notices. Follow crew directions for seating and bags; do not assume a specific vessel, view or calm sea.

Check baggage allowance and charges before purchase. Travelmar's published conditions allow one bag up to 45 × 35 × 20 cm before additional-baggage charges apply, and leave handling and custody to the passenger. These are ferry rules, separate from SITA's baggage conditions.

In Amalfi, find the current SITA departure for Ravello

After disembarking, collect your bags and find the current signed bus departure in the waterfront/Piazza Flavio Gioia area. Confirm a 5110 journey serving Ravello. Boarding positions can change; use current signs and the driver's confirmation.

Read the official 5110 timetable and current SITA notices. Its Scala branches and repeated Ravello rows mean you must follow one applicable journey column. Apply the table's day legend and footnotes; an empty cell is not a confirmed stop.

Validate or check in as required for the bus and keep the ticket. If the boat is delayed or the bus is full, check the next usable journey and reassess your return, rather than assuming a fixed service interval.

Confirm the Ravello stop and continue on foot

Ask the driver which central Ravello stop your chosen journey serves. Largo Giovanni Boccaccio is the central bus area near the pedestrian passage toward Piazza Duomo; confirm the current signed stop rather than an old Via della Marra map pin.

Use the Ravello bus guide for the branch and stop guidance. If visiting a villa, check that venue's current opening and access information; do not apply the same walking time to Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone.

Check both baggage rules and hostel storage

Check SITA's current baggage conditions. Non-obstructing hand baggage up to 50 × 30 × 25 cm is free under the published rules; other bags require a baggage ticket. Larger bags depend on suitable luggage-bay space. Handle your own bags and keep aisles and exits clear.

If leaving bags after checkout, enrol through the hostel's guest app. The hostel must have received your agreement to the terms, and storage is subject to availability. It is free until 15:00. If you have not returned by 15:00, bags are automatically transferred to the porters, who charge for storage. Plan Ravello → Amalfi and the final journey to Brikette

Check a usable 5110 bus down to Amalfi and then either a confirmed ferry to Positano or a suitable 5070 bus serving Chiesa Nuova. Include the transfer and each ticket's requirements; do not depend on the last possible connection.

A ferry return leaves you at beach level. Follow the dock-to-hostel arrival guide; the local Interno stop beside Tabacchi Cafiero is different from the SITA stop near Bar Internazionale. For the land return, use Ravello to Positano by bus and its final 120 m approach and entrance stairs.

Checkout is 10:00; returning late from a day trip does not extend free bag storage. Room check-in is 15:00–22:00 if this is your arrival day. Contact the hostel promptly if delays may affect check-in.

Keep a complete land alternative

If the sailing changes or cancels, read the ferry-cancellation guide and check Positano → Amalfi → Ravello by bus for the whole replacement journey. A ferry cancellation does not guarantee bus capacity.

Keep your ticket and cancellation evidence, then follow the seller's applicable procedure for refund or rebooking. Recheck both return legs and any luggage deadline before continuing.
