Fornillo Beach → Hostel Brikette return route

Heading back to Hostel Brikette from Fornillo Beach is easiest if you follow the waterfront to Spiaggia Grande and ride the interno bus from the town centre. This route swaps most of the uphill stairs for level promenades and a short climb beside the hostel.

Plan your return

Allow extra time for photo stops or browsing the shops around Spiaggia Grande before you board the bus.

This return path is longer than climbing the shortcut staircase, but it stays cooler in the afternoon and gives you a gentler finish after a beach day.

Route from Fornillo Beach to Hostel Brikette

1. Walk to the far left side of Fornillo Beach (left when you face the sea).

2. Follow the coastal path toward Spiaggia Grande until you reach the main beach and port area.

3. Pass through the harbour gate, leave the jetty, and continue straight along the waterfront promenade.

4. Take the pathway directly ahead off the beachfront and continue inland.

5. Turn right at the first alley between the shops.

6. Climb the staircase that leads up to Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta.

7. At the top of the lane, turn left and follow it uphill.

8. When the lane meets the one-way road at the junction, you have reached the interno bus stop for Chiesa Nuova. Ride it up one stop for Hostel Brikette.

Catch the interno bus

From the Chiesa Nuova stop, the orange interno Positano bus drops you a short walk from Hostel Brikette—perfect if you want to avoid the full stair climb back.

Tickets are sold at tabacchi/newsagent kiosks throughout town, so buy them before you head down or check with reception for availability.

Tips

  • Buy interno bus tickets at any tabacchi/newsagent before you go to the beach.
  • Save the stair-heavy shortcut for mornings; this scenic return is calmer after a long swim.
  • Link it with our Fornillo beach guide for beach club details and quiet spots.
  • Review the Positano beaches overview to plan where else to swim during your stay.
