The route: Chiesa Nuova → Amalfi → Salerno

Use the coastal 5070 service for the first leg and 5120 for Amalfi–Salerno. Confirm each selected journey serves your stop; not every column in a timetable runs the full route.

Compare the Positano-to-Salerno ferry if it suits your date and baggage. Include the walk to the pier, the actual Salerno terminal and sailing conditions in that comparison.

Tickets and validation

Buy a ticket covering both legs, or the required separate tickets, before joining the queue. Ask an authorised seller or use a supported digital channel; follow SITA's validation and digital check-in instructions on each vehicle. Keep the ticket for inspection.

Confirm today's fare and validity for your actual itinerary. Fares changed on 1 October 2026, so older quoted prices may be out of date. Do not assume a single-ride ticket covers two buses or rely on buying from the driver.

Compare the personal, non-transferable COSTIERASITA pass with the tickets you need: its published coverage includes SITA journeys through Salerno, Amalfi and Positano for 24 hours from first validation. Complete the required name and birth-date details. Local Interno transport is separate; check baggage charges too.

Read both timetables for your travel date

Open the official 5070 route page and 5120 route page. At our 26 October 2026 check, the later combined PDF covered 5 October–1 November. Choose a version valid for your date and check service notices.

In the Amalfi-bound table, read Positano (Chiesa Nuova) to Amalfi down one journey column. Then use the Salerno-bound table and find a later departure that actually reaches Salerno (via Vinciprova). Leave time to change buses; the connection is not guaranteed.

Use each PDF's own legend: the checked version uses F for Monday–Saturday, H for Sundays/holidays, G daily, S school days, N non-school days, L Monday–Friday and 6 Saturday only. A blank, dash, asterisk or note matters; the letters describe service days, not unique journey names.

Find the Amalfi-bound Chiesa Nuova stop

Use the SITA Chiesa Nuova stop area near Bar Internazionale on Via Guglielmo Marconi. Check today's marked boarding position and confirm 'Amalfi' with the driver before boarding; do not choose a side of the road from an old photo alone.

This is separate from the local Interno stop beside Tabacchi Cafiero on Viale Pasitea. A local-town bus does not replace the SITA leg to Amalfi.

Walk from Hostel Brikette to the stop

Leave reception via the entrance stairs to Via Guglielmo Marconi, then follow the main road toward Bar Internazionale / Chiesa Nuova for approximately 120 m / 390 ft. This road leg is separate from the stairs.

Use the photographed Chiesa Nuova approach in reverse for landmarks. Allow time to carry bags and reach the correct marked stop safely; avoid relying on a fixed three-minute estimate.

Queue and board for Amalfi

Have your ticket ready and signal the driver at the designated stop. Confirm the bus serves Amalfi and follow the required validation procedure. Buy in advance; do not depend on a particular café being open or on onboard ticket sales.

A ticket does not guarantee a seat or that a full bus can accept you and your bags. Keep clear of traffic and allow another departure if necessary.

Change at Amalfi for Salerno

At Amalfi, use the waterfront / Piazza Flavio Gioia area as an orientation reference, then locate the current signed Salerno departure stand. Ask staff or the driver if uncertain; a bay number is not fixed here.

Keep your bags with you during the change. Confirm that the next journey reaches Salerno and that your ticket is valid for this leg; complete the applicable validation or digital check-in again. Queuing and late arrivals can make a tight transfer fail.

Arrive in Salerno and reach your onward connection

The checked 5120 timetable names Salerno (via Vinciprova). Confirm your selected journey's endpoint and any diversion before travel. Salerno railway station, Piazza della Concordia and Molo Manfredi are separate destinations; check the walking or local-transfer route to the one you need.

For a train, allow time to leave the bus, retrieve luggage and reach the correct platform. For an airport journey, verify the separate onward operator and terminal. Neither a coastal bus timetable nor this guide guarantees a train or flight connection.

Bags and departure-day storage

Check SITA's current baggage conditions. Non-obstructing hand baggage up to 50 × 30 × 25 cm is free under the published rules; other bags require a baggage ticket. Larger bags depend on suitable luggage-bay space. Handle your own bags and keep aisles and exits clear.

If you need help carrying bags, agree porter assistance separately: provider, collection, delivery, timing and full charge. A bus ticket does not reserve luggage space, and bag transport does not remove the hostel's entrance stairs.

Checkout is by 10:00. Guests can enrol for post-checkout storage through the hostel's guest app; the hostel must have received their agreement to the terms, and storage is subject to availability. It is free until 15:00. If guests have not returned by 15:00, bags are automatically transferred to the porters, who charge for storage.
